Anesthetics and Cell–Cell Communication: Potential Ca2+-Calmodulin Role in Gap Junction Channel Gating by Heptanol, Halothane and Isoflurane

Abstract: Cell–cell communication via gap junction channels is known to be inhibited by the anesthetics heptanol, halothane and isoflurane; however, despite numerous studies, the mechanism of gap junction channel gating by anesthetics is still poorly understood.
