Abstract:Carnitine-acylcarnitine translocase (CACT) deficiency is a rare disorder of mitochondrial fatty acid metabolism that results in an acute encephalopathic and/or myopathic disorder. Carnitine and CACT play an essential role in the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria.
