Ancient mantle lithosphere beneath the Khanka massif in the Russian Far East: in situ Re–Os evidence

Abstract: The Os-isotope compositions of sulphides in mantle xenoliths hosted by Late Miocene alkali basalts from the Sviyaginsky volcano, Russian Far East, reveal the presence of Archaean-Proterozoic subcontinental lithospheric mantle beneath the Khanka massif. Their T MA and T RD model ages reveal similar peaks at 1.1 and 0.8 Ga suggesting later thermotectonic events in the subcontinental lithospheric mantle, whereas T RD model ages range back to 2.8 AE 0.5 (2r) Ga. The events recognized in the subcontinental lithosph… Show more

“…According to the findings of macro-and micro-palaeoflora from the tuff-terrigenous part of the section of the cover part of the complex, the time interval might be stated as the end of Jurassic-Hauterivian [16]. The age of the volcanites of the Itikut complex is 135-136 Myr ( 40 Ar/ 39 Ar method) [37] by the geochronological data. According to these data, the time of the Itikut complex rocks formation was accepted as the end of the Jurassic-135 Myr.…”

“…But the authors state that these formations are the analog of Burunda volcano-plutonic island-arc complex. The age interval of formation for the magmatites of Burunda complex is stated by the precision ( 40 Ar/ 39 Ar, Rb-Sr) methods as 111-105 Myr [5].…”
