The aortic valve was investigated in 58 sheep and 60 swine without heart disease.After fixation in 4% formalin, the distance between the ostia and the elements of the right/left aortic sinuses was measured. For the left coronary ostium (LCO), it was found that in sheep 81% were below and 19% at the level of intercomissural line (IL). In pigs, 88.3% were below and 11.7% at the IL level. In sheep, the OCL was close to the right valve commissure (CVR) in 98.3% and close to the left valve commissure (CVV) in 1.7%. In pigs, it was close to RVC at 83.3% and close to LVC at 16.7%. Regarding to RCO, it was found that in sheep 69% was below, 1.7% was above and 29.3% at the IL level. In pigs, 20% were below, 15% above and 65% at the IL level. The distance of the RCO in relation to the valve commissures was 56.9% close to LVC and 43.1% close to RVC in sheep. In pigs, 81.7% were close to LVC and 18.3% close to RVC. The position of LCO was balanced between sheep and swine, while the RCO in swine was closer to CVE when compared with sheep. The accessory coronary ostium was observed in 18.6% of sheep and 10% of pigs. Thus, it is concluded that in sheep and swine the left coronary artery is perfused only in ventricular diastole. Perfusion of the right coronary artery occurs more frequently in diastole and less frequently in ventricular systole.

Мета роботи-з'ясувати особливості будови та кровопостачання заслінок клапанів аорти і легеневого стовбура у дітей першого року життя. Матеріал і методи. Дослідження виконано на 9 препаратах клапанів сердець дітей віком першого року життя (5-клапанів аорти та 4-клапани легеневого стовбура). Використано комплекс методів морфологічного дослідження: макроскопія, світлова мікроскопія. Застосування гістохімічного методу дало можливість об'єктивно оцінити морфологію заслінок клапанів аорти та легеневого стовбура. Результати. Із використанням сукупності морфологічних методів виконане дослідження заслінок клапанів аорти та легеневого стовбура та встановлена гістоархітектоніка та особливості кровопостачання заслінок клапанів у дітей першого року життя. Висновок. У роботі за допомогою морфологічних методів дослідження встановлено, заслінки клапанів аорти та легеневого стовбура серця людини в постнатальному онтогенезі набувають чіткої тришарової будови. В їх складі ідентифікуються три шари: волокнистий, губчастий та шлуночковий, до складу яких входять волокнисті сполучні тканини, зокрема пухка та щільна. Також у складі клапанів серця виявлені кровоносні судини мікроциркуляторного русла. У поодиноких випадках виявлені невеликі острівці поперечно-посмугованої м'язової тканини.

The presented review concerns aortic regurgitation which occupies a significant place in the structure of valvular heart disease. The detailed anatomic and physiologic description of the aortic valve is provided. The characteristics of sinotubular, ventricular-aortic junctions, and virtual aortic annulus are presented. There are data about prevalence of aortic regurgitation on the basis of results of population studies, indicating the increase in incidence of aortic regurgitation among individuals older 70–74 years. The detailed etiologic structure of this valvular pathology is described with specifying of the most common causes of both aortic disease and aortic cusps alterations. In particular, there are some aortic diseases, resulting in acute aortic regurgitation, including acute aortic dissection and paravalvular regurgitation in incompetence of the prosthetic aortic valve; in chronic one – idiopathic dilation of the aortic root, inherited connective tissue dysplasias (Ehlers–Danlos, Marfan, and Loeys–Dietz syndromes), bicuspid aortic valve, aortitis of various origin, seronegative arthropathies (reactive, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis) etc. Infective endocarditis and traumatic exposure are commonly responsible for development of acute regurgitation due to aortic cusps abnormalities. Chronic aortic regurgitation as a consequence valve defects occurs in rheumatic heart disease, degenerative changes, congenital anomalies, systemic connective tissue diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis), non-specific aortoarteritis, etc. The special attention is paid to pathophysiologic features of acute and chronic aortic regurgitation in the review. Acute aortic regurgitation is characterized by sudden increase in end-diastolic volume and due to the noncompliant left ventricle of normal size, it undergoes abrupt exposure a significant pre-load and after-load which results in decrease of left ventricle systolic function and stroke volume despite on relative preservation of contractile function of myocardium. In contrast to acute aortic regurgitation it is remarkable in its chronic form slow, progressive influence by increased overload of the left ventricle with possibility to adapt driven by its gradual dilation and hypertrophy.
