Abstract: Regardless of its clinical and surgical significance, the anatomy of Liliequist's membrane is still a matter of debate.

“…Endoscopic aqueductoplasty can be preferred as the initial restorative method in patients with occlusion within the aqueduct secondary to the webs [8]. Interpedincular, suprasellar and prepontine cisterns are very narrow and can be obstructed easily in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage or meningeal infection [21]. In these cases, failure rate is high in ETV procedure.…”

“…In these cases, failure rate is high in ETV procedure. Factors affecting the failure risk of ETV can be summarized as follows; complex third ventricular anatomy, thickened/twisted Liliequist membrane or third ventricular floor, thickened prepontine or cervical cistern membranes, adhesions in the subarachnoid space, non-visible aqueduct obstruction, normal or minimally dilated third ventricular recesses, and/or small stoma [6,20,21]. All of these findings can be demonstrated using only T2W 3D-SPACE VFAM technique in a fast, effective and a more convenient way for the patients [6,7].…”

“…When performing ETV, additional perforation of the Liliequist membrane is of importance. The Liliequist membrane is a normal variant membranous structure that extends from the upper rim of the dorsum sellae to the anterior rim of the mammalian bodies, forming a blockade in the basilar cistern . Our case also had a membranous structure in the prepontine cistern (prepontine membrane).…”
