Anatomical-based percutaneous left stellate ganglion block in patients with drug-refractory electrical storm and structural heart disease: a single-centre case series

Abstract: Aims The adoption of percutaneous stellate ganglion blockade for the treatment of drug-refractory electrical storm (ES) has been increasingly reported; however, the time of onset of the anti-arrhythmic effects, the safety of a purely anatomical approach in conscious patients and the additional benefit of repeated procedures remain unclear. Methods and results This study included consecutive patients undergoing percutaneous le… Show more

“…A is a hormone and neurotransmitter released by adrenal gland. Il-6 can induce the differentiation of B cells and the production of antibodies and induce the activation of proliferation and Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine differentiation of T cells [21]. And it participates in the body's immune response, which can promote the development of inflammatory responses.…”

“…Electrical storm is defined by three or more sustained episodes of ventricular tachycardia (VT), ventricular fibrillation (VF), or appropriate shocks from an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) within 24 hours (1). Despite the large proportion of structural heart diseases, such as coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, congenital and valvular heart disease that lead to the electrical storm, it can be induced due to inherited channelopathies, electrolyte disturbances, endocrinologic abnormalities, and other secondary causes (2). In this case report, we present refractory ventricular storm in a young boy, which was not related to previously known causes of electrical storm and was so challenging to manage.…”
