Abstract: A corrosion - cast anatomical study was performed on human livers. At first arterio-arterial anastomoses between the inferior phrenic arteries and branches of the main hepatic artery were investigated. Secondly, arterial communications between the right and left hepatic artery are described. 1. The anatomical-functional study of phrenico-hepatic anastomoses gives new detailed information on the arterial blood supply of the liver out of the phrenic arteries. These collaterals are a consistent finding. By far th… Show more

“…They can be located in the hepatic hilum, in the subcapsular plexus, and in the translobar vessels. It is an interesting point that most of these vessels have been located in the DSL [27]. The number of these vessels per specimen is not noted in literature data, and we think that the finding of four vessels per specimen is highly unusual.…”

“…The anastomotic bridges between the system of the right and left branches of the AHP are not frequent [25, 26, 27]. However, it is well noted that if abnormal anatomical relations exist, these anastomotic blood vessels become more frequent [4, 28].…”

“…Aberrant left hepatic arteries may supply only one segment or the entire left hepatic lobe [6]. Collateralization exists between the intrahepatic arteries and the phrenic arteries, so that if ligation occurs it will not lead to necrosis of the liver lobe in most instances [14]. However, there is evidence in the literature of lethal necrosis of the left liver lobe after ligation of an ALHA [5,11].…”
