This study investigates the feasibility of remanufacturing shoemaking machines for sustainability using a combined AHP and DEMATEL approach. The AHP prioritizes machine types for remanufacturing, while the DEMATEL analyzes the interdependencies of influencing factors. Results indicate sole-making equipment as the most suitable candidate, followed by surface and forming equipment. Furthermore, appropriate product design, modularity, and a complete recycling system emerge as crucial for successful strategies. The DEMATEL confirms the foundational role of these factors in influencing a positive corporate image and business model. This study offers valuable insights and recommendations for Taiwan-based shoemaking machine OEMs in India to formulate strategies that promote remanufacturing. The findings highlight the critical role of OEMs in raising customer awareness regarding the environmental and economic benefits of returning end-of-life products and utilizing remanufactured machinery. Effective strategies should emphasize the importance of design for remanufacturing principles, modular machine architectures, and the establishment of comprehensive recycling systems. By fostering customer engagement through such initiatives, OEMs can create a collaborative ecosystem that facilitates the successful implementation of remanufacturing practices within the Indian market. Overall, the study presents a compelling case for remanufacturing as a strategic approach for OEMs to promote a circular economy, resource efficiency, and a sustainable future for footwear production.

PurposeThis study aims to establish a robust evaluation framework for suppliers within the automotive supply chain, specifically in the stamping sector. The primary objectives are to elucidate the performance criteria of suppliers, identify indicators and scales for measuring these criteria and find the importance of the criteria.Design/methodology/approachThe evaluation framework comprises a criteria hierarchy and indicators developed based on the evaluation criteria of major automotive manufacturers. Specific indicators and measurement scales are recommended for assessing suppliers. Importance weights for the criteria are assigned based on the input of nine experts using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Finally, four sheet metal stamping tooling (SMST) suppliers are evaluated by four specialists using the proposed evaluation framework.FindingsThe study introduces a novel classification of criteria, encompassing financial and commercial perspectives, delivery capability, supplier facility and cultural approaches and business process necessities. The findings underscore the significance of financial and commercial stability in the selection of SMST suppliers, emphasizing their role in mitigating risks associated with disruptions, bankruptcies and unforeseen events. Additionally, several SMST evaluation factors identified in this study contribute to the development of resilience capabilities, highlighting the crucial importance of their inclusion and assessment in the proposed evaluation framework.Originality/valueThis research presents a comprehensive model for evaluating SMST suppliers, which tackles the multidisciplinary challenges within the automotive supply chain. Given the inadequacy or nonexistence of current SMTS selection models, this study bridges the gap by exploring potential and necessary criteria, alongside 116 specific indicators and measurement scales.

Öz Amaç: Çalışmada; karar verme tekniklerinin türleri ve nasıl ele alındığı, yöneticiler bakımından hangi karar verme tekniğinin tercih edildiği ve sonuçlarının neyi etkilediğini ortaya çıkartmak amaçlanmıştır. Tasarım/Yöntem: Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden Bibliyometrik Analizi tercih edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda; Scopus Veri Tabanı’nda 1973-2023 yılları arasındaki son elli yılda yapılan karar verme tekniklerini içeren 3767 adet çalışmanın verisi analiz edilmiştir. Analizlerde, VOSviewer (Benzerliklerin Görselleştirilmesi) ve R Studio Biometrix paket programları kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Analizler sonucunda; yapılan yayınların %73,8'i makale, %20,9'u bildiri ve %2,3'ü derlemedir. Temel araştırma alanları ise mühendislik, bilgisayar bilimi ve matematiktir. 2005 yılından itibaren yayın sayısında belirgin bir artış olmuştur. Çin, Hindistan ve İran, hem bu konuda en fazla yayın yapan, hem de en çok atıf alan ülkelerdir. 2017 sonrasında karar almada, COVID-19, güç, çok kriterli karar verme, belirsizlik gibi konulara vurgu yapılmıştır. Sınırlılıklar: Karar verme tekniklerinin, diğer veri tabanlarında da incelenmemesi bu araştırmanın sınırlılığını oluşturmaktadır. Özgünlük/Değer: Geçmişten günümüze etkin yöneticilikte, rasyonel karar vermeye ilişkin daha önce yapılan çalışmaların incelenmesi; karar verme tekniklerinin kullanılmasının önemini ortaya çıkarması açısından literatüre anlamlı bir katkı sağlamaktadır.
