Analytic Hierarchy Process and Supply Chain Management: A Bibliometric Study

Abstract: A comparative study was used to outline the literature in the research topic. This paper aims to present a bibliometric study of multi-criteria decision-making methods most applied in publications from 1990 to 2014. Our research presented relations of papers published in the Web of Science Core Collection, regarding the following keywords: Analytic Hierarchy Process and Supply Chain. The research evidenced that the Analytic Hierarchy Process has been the method most applied in publications from 1993. It also s… Show more

“…The AHP (Grimaldi et Crivelli, 2009), (Ho et al, 2010), (Lee, 2010), (Tramarico et al, 2015) and (Zhu et Xu, 2014) was created in the 1970s by the mathematician Thomas L. Saaty, and was popularized in the resolution of complex multi-criteria problems. The methodology allows troubleshooting via prioritization of possible alternatives (Saaty, 1991) and (Saaty, 2005).…”

“…Velasquez and Hester (2013) compared the different MCDM methods, analyzed their advantages and disadvantages, and identified the types of studies for which they are more suitable [33]. AHP is a suitable method when the researcher wants to rate a criterion against the other criteria at the same level of the hierarchical tree [34] and has been widely used in the study of supply chain problems [35][36][37][38][39][40].…”

“…AHP is a MCDM method that deals with typical problems of complex scenarios, being appropriate for decision-making problems that have to consider multiple criteria and multiple stakeholder groups [57]. Among the MCDM methods, the AHP has been recognized as the most cited and used in the scientific literature [35,58,59]. This high usage is produced due to its simplicity, traceability, and the systematic method used to calculate the weights of each criterion or, in this case, each functionality [24].…”

“…Metode pengambilan keputusan multi kriteria, juga dikenal sebagai Multi-Criteria DecisionMaking (MCDM), sangat penting dalam proses pengambilan keputusan. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) merupakan salah satu metode MCDM yang paling umum digunakan sebagai alat manajemen di beberapa sektor industri, seperti rantai pasokan, logistik dan juga pendidikan, dengan tujuan menilai strategi dan kinerja (Tramarico et al, 2015).…”
