Analytic calculation of magnetic field and force in Halbach permanent magnet linear motor

Abstract: The calculating formula of magnetic field produced by single permanent magnet (PM) is deduced based on equivalent current model and magnetic field of Halbach PM array is also given. Secondly, A model of linear synchronous motor whose stator is air-cored coil and mover is Halbach PM array is designed. Then, air-gap magnetic field and force are calculated by both the above formula and commercial electromagnetic simulation software MaxWell. The error between the two methods is less than 2 percent. Compared with t… Show more

“…According to electromagnetic theory, magnetic field of a permanent magnet can be expressed by assuming surface current on the magnet surface. 15 Let I i (i = 1 -4) [A/m] denote surface currents per unit length on four sides; assume that the currents stack in y direction as infinite wires stretched in z direction. Magnetic flux density dB 1 produced by stacked surface current I 1 is expressed as follows.…”

“…The analysis model deals with a standalone permanent magnet. According to electromagnetic theory, magnetic field of a permanent magnet can be expressed by assuming surface current on the magnet surface 15 . Let I i ( i = 1 – 4) [A/m] denote surface currents per unit length on four sides; assume that the currents stack in y direction as infinite wires stretched in z direction.…”
