Context: Periodontitis causes pocket formation, gingival recession, and destruction of periodontal ligaments and alveolar bone. Periodontitis disturbs the attachment of periodontal ligaments to the maxillary and mandibular bones. The α-mangostin has shown role-playing in the bone remodeling process. Aims: To evaluate the potential of α-mangostin induce the TGFβ1 titer associated with the increased mandibular bone volume on the alveolar bone remodeling of periodontitis of Rattus novergicus. Methods: The α-mangostin used to the single administration dosage on the rat periodontitis model on the 7 and 14 days. TGF-β1 titer tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, while the X-Ray Micro-CT/Micro Computed Tomography examined the volume’s development of the mandibular bone. Results: At the 7 days, 0.5 and 1% of α-mangostin had a better effect to increase the bone volume, and TGF-β1 titer has linearity of bone development at concentrations of 0.5 to 2%. At 14 days, 1 and 2% of α-mangostin exhibited a better effect on inducing an increase in mandibular bone volume and TGF-β1 titer. The linearity of both occurs at concentrations of 0.5 to 1%. The Micro-CT of the mandibular bone showed callus or new bone formation at the edge of each treatment group’s lesion as an indicator of bone remodeling. Conclusions: α-Mangostin induced an increase in the TGF-β1 titer, which was in line with the rise in the volume of the mandibular bone of Rattus novergicus.

Punica granatum (PG) contained anthocyanin, the chemical compound that played significant role in increasing bone cell proliferabbitsion and osteoblasts differentiation in bone remodelling. This research was aimed at measuring the effect of Punicagranatum on maxilla bone remodelling relating to the profile of both osteoblast and osteoclast. Punicagranatum was extracted by using butanol while the analysis of bone remodelling was conducted by observing the profile of osteoblast and osteoclast cells using histopathologic method. Butanol hydrogel of Punicagranatum was abled to enhance bone reabsorption which was proven by the increase of osteoclast and new bone formation since the osteoblast was presented. Moreover, bone remodelling activity was characterised by increased collagen fibres and osteocyte cell, in addition, bone shape compactness was getting better. Statistical analysis revealed that the histoscore profile of osteoblast was influenced by butanol fraction dosage with significance level (p<0.05) which was at medium criteria according to Pearson correlation (r=0,6). While the effect of dosage on osteoclast was at significance level (p<0.05) but was poorly correlated with (r=0.01) and osteoblast frequency was dominant at the concentrabbitsion of 125 mg/ml and 250 mg/ml. On the other hand, at the concentrabbitsion of 175 mg/ml osteoclast presentation was found to be more dominant. The fraction of butanol PG was abled to induce osteoblast increment and osteoclast at the concentrabbitsion of (mg/ml) 125, 175, and 250 and accelerabbitse the remodelling of alveolar maxilla.

Background: Purple leaves are derived from the Graptophyllum pictum plant, the Acanthacea family contains: flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. Purple leaf extract has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Purpose: This study observed an increase in the density of collagen in wounds in wistar rats. Methods: The research subjects were 24 adult and healthy Wistar (Rattus norvegicus) mice, aged 3 months, with a body weight of 200 grams, which were divided into 6 groups of 4 rats each. The making of purple leaf extract is as follows, purple leaf powder weighed as much as 500 grams, then moistened with 96% ethanol as much as 500 ml. Research data were analyzed using the Kruskall Wallis and Mann Whitney tests. Results: Statistical data analysis using the Kruskall Wallis test showed significant differences in collagen density (P<0.005). Conclusion: Giving a 15% purple leaf extract gel increases collagen density.
