Analysis on Variation Characteristics of Precipitation Time Series in Weihe River Basin during the Past 55 Years

Abstract: By using linear regression, moving average, Mann-Kendall test and Morlet wavelet analysis method, the annual, flood seasonal and dry seasonal precipitation series during 1954~2008 in Weihe River basin are analyzed. The results indicate that: ①Annual precipitation and precipitation in flood season and dry season present decreasing trends during the past 55 years, and the variation trends are not significant. ②There is an irregular spatial distribution of mean annual precipitation, which shows a decreasing trend… Show more

“…The result of annual rainfall was summarized in Figure 2; rainfall distribution from southeast to the northwest was decreased significantly like the previous study from Zhi et al [34]. Notably, the result indicated the Baoji area was similar in the heaviest annual rainfall to the previous research [35] [36]. Under the same condition frequency 5%, 10%, and 20% of precipitation of the whole growing period, the spatial distribution interpolation maps of rainwater excess and shortage at seven growth stages were analyzed.…”

“…The relative humidity is an important physical quantity that characterizes air humidity, which indicates the degree of saturation of water vapor in the air [31]. The change of relative humidity is comprehensively affected by various conditions such as circulation form, cloud cover, precipitation, wind, and topographic factors [32].…”

“…Wavelet analysis inherits and develops an idea of the short-time Fourier transform. It shows a sliding window changed with frequency to the perform time-frequency localization of cycles [32], which is an excellent tool for cycle analysis [33][34][35][36]. The Morlet wavelet analysis provides a good balance between the temporal domain and frequency domain as a particular wavelet and accurately identifies the cycles of time series [37].…”
