Analysis on the Development of Digital Economy in Guangdong Province Based on Improved Entropy Method and Multivariate Statistical Analysis

Abstract: The lack of adequate indicators in the research of digital economy may lead to the shortage of data support on decision making for governments. To solve this problem, first we establish a digital economy indicator evaluation system by dividing the digital economy into four types: “basic type”, “technology type”, “integration type” and “service type” and select 5 indicators for each type. On this basis, the weight of each indicator is calculated to find the deficiencies in the development of some digital econom… Show more

“…According to the characteristics of entropy, this paper judges the randomness and disorder degree of an event by calculating the entropy value, and judges the dispersion degree of an index by using the entropy value 73 76 . The greater the dispersion degree of the index is, the greater the influence (weight) of the index on the comprehensive evaluation is, and the smaller the entropy value is.…”

“…The advent of digital economy brings both opportunities and challenges to the low-carbon transformation and development of the transport sector Lee & Wang, 2022). Promoting the development of digital economy has been regarded as a major national strategy in the 14th Five-year Plan, which has had a profound impact on all aspects of China's economy and society, including the transportation industry (Deng et al, 2020). Firstly, it promotes the expansion of economic activities, which leads to an increase in transport demand.…”

“…In the field of environmental economic statistics research, the entropy method is a relatively scientific method of evaluation. Compared with the traditional entropy approach, the improved entropy weight method has at least two advantages for the study of regional digital economy [ 75 , 76 ]. Firstly, it can effectively address the problem that the weight of a single indicator of digital economy is too large or too small.…”
