Analysis on Fire Resistance of Reinforced Concrete Wall

Abstract: Fire resistance design of Reinforced concrete wall is one of the important issues for structural safety. The sequentially coupled thermal-stress analysis method in ABAQUS software is used to calculate the fire resistance of walls. The results of a parametric study to examine the influences of parameters, such as axial load level, lateral load level, height-to-thickness ratio, wall thickness, material strengths, steel reinforcement ratio and concrete protection thickness to reinforcements on fire resistance of … Show more

“…La resistencia al fuego aumentará a medida que aumente la presión del hormigón. La temperatura alcanzando la superficie de acero afecta negativamente a la energía consumida por el sistema (Zheng & Zhuang, 2011;Kürklü, 2019).…”

“…Therefore, RC-bearing walls should provide proper fire resistance to withstand static loads during fire scenarios. Several experimental investigations have been performed on the behaviour of RC walls subjected to fire in the last decades (D. A. C. and Sanjayan;Mueller and Kurama, 2015;Almeshal et al, 2022;Hayhoe and Youssef;Ngo et al, 2013;Zheng and Zhuang, 2011;Chen et al, 2020;Mueller et al, 2014;Mueller and Kurama, 2015).…”

“…Most of the conducted studies (Almeshal et al, 2022;Hayhoe and Youssef;Ngo et al, 2013) reported that the increase in concrete compressive strength leads to lower fire resistance and failure in the form of explosive spalling (Ngo et al, 2013). However, Zheng and Zhuang (2011) reported an increase in the fire resistance of RC walls when the concrete compressive strength is higher due to the larger bearing capacity of the walls. Slenderness ratio and/or wall thickness considerably influence the behaviour of RC walls exposed to fire (Almeshal et al, 2022).…”
