Analysis on Damage to Rolling Bearings at Small Turning Angels

Abstract: A test rig was developed for testing air springs. It uses the energy returned by the spring during unloading. The springs are loaded by means of a lever oscillating around its rotation point at a small angle. During operation, it was determined that rotation point bearings are critical elements of the test rig. This paper shows and analyses the damage that occurs on bearing ring raceways. Contact pressure and stress under individual rolling elements were calculated by using the finite element method (FEM). Mec… Show more

“…Rolling bearings are a common component of machines and mechanical devices, which explains their great popularity among the interests of researchers throughout the world [1] to [3]. Often topics are taken up in relation to a specific bearing application [4] and [5]. Research from a typical production point of view is conducted less frequently [6] to [8].…”

“…FEM analyses are extremely useful in the study of load distribution, e.g. : in bearings [20,21] and in gears characterized by complex geometry, such as cycloidal drives [22,23]. In the case of such transmissions, it is also necessary to take into account the research, which presents the results of simulations of stress and deformation in structural elements with geometrical discontinuities [24] and show the influence of residual stresses on wear in the case of line rolling contact [25].…”
