Analysis of Winding Vibration Characteristics of Power Transformers Based on the Finite-Element Method

Abstract: The winding is the core component of a transformer, and the technology used to diagnose its current state directly affects the operation and maintenance of the transformer. The mechanical vibration characteristics of a dry-type transformer winding are studied in this paper. A short-circuit test was performed on an SCB10-1000/10 dry-type transformer, and the vibration signal at the surface was measured. Based on actual experimental conditions, a vibration-simulation model of the transformer was established usin… Show more

“…The range and applications of diagnostics, where magnetic effects are used today, are mostly in the area of energetics, where there are strong fields near the object of measurement. Some of the experiments show that there are possibilities to follow the energy flow with the help of acoustic noise [45,46], heat and mechanical oscillations [47][48][49][50]. The subjects of measurements are often stationary devices without rotating parts.…”

“…In Ref. [25], a simulation model of transformer winding loosening, winding deformation and winding insulation failure was developed using a simulation model of a transformer in normal operation, and the vibration characteristics of winding faults were analyzed. The above-mentioned studies mainly focus on the analysis of the impact of shortcircuit current on transformer windings from a structural perspective.…”
