Analysis of Welded Joint Properties on an AISI316L Stainless Steel Tube Manufactured by SLM Technology

Abstract: This work is focused on the analysis of the influence of welding on the properties and microstructure of the AISI316L stainless steel tube produced by 3D printing, specifically the SLM (Selective Laser Melting) method. Both non-destructive and destructive tests, including metallographic and fractographic analyses, were performed within the experiment. Microstructure analysis shows that the initial texture of the 3D print disappears toward the fuse boundary. It is evident that high temperature during welding ha… Show more

“…An optical emission spectrometer with a glow discharge Spectruma Analytik GMBH (model GDA 750) was used in this work. The average chemical composition of the base material of the samples was determined by BULK GDOES analysis under excitation conditions of 700 V and 35 mA [9,10]. The profile analysis was performed under excitation conditions of 1000 V and 15 mA.…”

“…Regarding additive manufactured materials, the welding of steel [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21], titanium alloys [22][23][24][25][26][27], aluminum alloys [28][29][30], and Ni-based superalloys [12,31] have been reported. Regarding AM techniques, the welding of SLM parts [12,14,[16][17][18]20,24,[27][28][29][30][31], robotized laser/wire-directed energy deposition parts [15], binder jetting [19], electron beam melting [22,23,25], and wire arc AM [26] have been reported. Regarding welding methods, laser welding [12,[14][15][16]18,23,24,26,28,29,31], Tungsten Inert Gaz (TIG) welding…”
