Analysis of weighted gene co-expression network of triterpenoid-related transcriptome characteristics from different strains of Wolfiporia cocos

Abstract: The fungus Wolfiporia cocos has wide-ranging and important medicinal value, and its dried sclerotia are used as a traditional Chinese medicine. Modern studies have shown that triterpenoid, the active ingredient of W. cocos, have a variety of pharmacological effects. The aim of our research was to determine the key genes related to triterpenoid biosynthesis, which may be useful for the genetic modification of cell-engineered bacteria for triterpenoid biosynthesis. In this study, two monospore strains, DZAC-WP-H… Show more

“…Transcriptome‐based WGCNA analysis revealed the difference in metabolism associated with floral color and scent in Narcissus tazetta flowers and identified key genes and TFs regulating the processes involved (Yang et al, 2021). WGCNA was used to analyze triterpenoid‐related network modules in Wolfiporia cocos and disclosed eight core genes regulating triterpenoid biosynthesis and accumulation (Zeng et al, 2021). Moreover, a transcriptome analysis clarified differentially expressed traits among samples and screened key metabolic regulatory genes.…”

“…Module‐trait associations were assessed based on the correlation between the module eigenvector and trait. p values were adjusted for multiple testing using the Benjamini–Hochberg (i.e., false discovery rate, FDR) approach (Jaime‐Lara et al., 2020 ; Zeng et al., 2021 ). The vital module was chosen by the correlation of module–trait value ≥|0.5| and p < 0.05.…”
