Analysis of Using Biogas Resources for Electric Vehicle Charging in Bangladesh: A Techno-Economic-Environmental Perspective

Abstract: The growing popularity of electric vehicles (EV) is creating an increasing burden on the power grid in Bangladesh due to massive energy consumption. Due to this uptake of variable energy consumption, environmental concerns, and scarcity of energy lead to investigate alternative energy resources that are readily available and environment friendly. Bangladesh has enormous potential in the field of renewable resources, such as biogas and biomass. Therefore, this paper proposes a design of a 20 kW electric vehicle… Show more

“…Finally, the sustainability of the EV innovation ecosystem depends on whether it's fuelled by green energy. Carbon-intensive electricity sources imply little improvement compared to ICE vehicles, and the use of climate-friendly energy, e.g., biogas and biomass, is crucial to make the EV ecosystem part of climate action [108]. The support of such underlying energy infrastructure hence defines the climate impact of the EV ecosystem.…”

“…In the literature, much research has been proposed for charging stations that are supplied by PV [12]. In Reference [13], a high-power biogas EV charging station was introduced and designed. The authors of [14] introduced a multiport converter connected to a PV array to be utilized in the EV charging station.…”
