Currently, the status of water quality in the river area tends to decline where one of the causes is the land use along the Sekampung River, and the land use is dominated by agriculture. Mapping of water quality in rivers aims to provide information in the form of distribution of water quality status in rivers. The purpose of this study is to identify the type of land use in the Sekampung River, Sumur Kucing Village, analyze the water quality of the Sekampung River, Sumur Kucing Village based on physical parameters (Temperature and TDS) and chemical (pH, Nitrate, Nitrite, and Ammonia) and interpreted the results of river water quality status using the STORET method spatially thematically. Determination of sample points was carried out using purposive sampling method with 4 sample points which were representative of each land use. Sampling of river water was carried out by referring to SNI 03-7016-2004. The results show that the land use in the Sekampung River is in the form of agricultural areas, plantations, settlements, ponds, and rice fields. The results of the analysis of water quality are based on physical parameters and chemical parameters, parameters that exceed the quality standards include TDS, Ammonia, and Nitrite. The results of the water quality distribution map by determining the status of water quality using the STORET method show point 1 and point 4 are classified as lightly polluted and point 3 and point 2 are classified as moderately polluted.

Many people use surface water for their daily needs. Reservoir water in Yeh Kori Embung is used for various purposes; however, there has not been an inspection of the quality and pollution index that allows contamination of the reservoir. This study aims to evaluate the quality and level of pollution of Yeh Kori Embung Water in Jungutan Village, Karangasem Regency. A descriptive design with a mix-method approach was used in this study. Water samples were taken at five different stations for two periods. Furthermore, physical, chemical and biological examinations are carried out and adjusted to quality standards. The results show that pH (5.2 – 5.4) is in the acidic category and does not meet the requirements while temperature (25.3oC), TSS (32.02 mg/L), DO (6.56 mg/L), BOD ( 1.36 mg/L), COD (10.4 mg/L), NO3-N (4.38 mg/L), Total P (0.021 mg/L), and Fecal Coliform (75.08 MPN/100mL) meet quality requirements. The pollution index (IP=1.085) is classified as lightly polluted. Yeh Kori Embung water does not meet the requirements of class two water quality and requires periodic evaluation and inspection. Continued entries of liquid wastes generated by tofu industries into nearby rivers might deteriorate the water quality if disposed of without prior treatments. The research objectives were to determine the liquid waste quality from tofu productions near Parangan River (Magelang, Indonesia), assess the river water quality and investigate the effects of the liquid waste on pollution load and water quality status. With this information, the research can help determine pollutant load allocation in the river and provide the basis for formulating water quality management policies if it is not contaminated or pollution controls if otherwise. This research employed purposive sampling, direct measurements in the field, laboratory tests, descriptive-comparative analysis, mass balance and pollution index method. The results showed that the pH, temperature, COD, BOD, TSS and ammonia levels of the liquid wastes had surpassed their maximum permissible levels. Similarly, the river’s COD, BOD and ammonia contents did not meet the water quality standards. With BOD, a pollution load indicator, exceeding the total maximum daily load, the water quality statuses at monitoring points S2, S3 and S4 were categorised into slightly polluted. It means that the liquid waste generated by the tofu industries has detrimental effects on the water quality of the Parangan River.
