This paper embarks to the persistent suboptimal coal quality issues experienced in thermal power plants that hinder operational efficiency and sustainability. The research is divided into three main segments: formulation of a transport problem, creationof a coal supplier selection model, and construction of a MATLAB Simulink® simulation for detecting and refusing low-grade coal. The proposed supplier selection model, important for thermal power plants, considers factors such as potential transport delays and the necessity of reserve refueling to prevent fuel shortages. This model is expected to decrease fuel shortages and enhance the reliability and efficiency of thermal power plants. Additionally, a coal quality detection model has been developed using a sampling approach based on the Cochran formula, aiming to increase defect detection accuracy, thus reducing the likelihood of utilizing poor-quality coal. The model's unique feature is its dynamic adjustment of coal sample selection based on combustion results, enabling real-time response to coal quality inconsistencies. Upon detecting poor-qualitycoal, the power plants promptly switch to an alternate supplier, minimizing operational disruptions. The validity of the models was confirmed via simulation on various examples

The creation of methods for automated power control of power units is an urgent task, for which it is advisable to use the capacities of nuclear power plants. A mathematical model of a nuclear power plant (NPP) as a control object is proposed, which includes a multi-zone model of the active zone with distributed parameters, which makes it possible to take into account its internal properties (including transitional processes for xenon). This makes it possible to reduce the error in modeling the static and dynamic properties of nuclear power plants. A method for automated control of NPP power change using three control loops has been developed: one maintains a scheduled change in reactor power by controlling the concentration of boric acid in the coolant, the second maintains the required value of the axial offset by changing the position of the adjustment rods, and the third supports the temperature regime of heat transfer. Due to the adjustment of the position of the main valves of the turbogenerator, the developed method makes it possible to improve the stability of the energy release in the core with a change in its power under normal operating conditions of the reactor. K e y w o r d s: nuclear power plant, axial offset, pressurized water reactor.In Ukraine, nuclear power plants are used to cover the base load of the country's Unified Energy System (UES). For satisfactory coverage of peak and semi-peak loads of UES, there is a share of electricity generation at hydroelectric power plants of about 20%, but today this share is only 5%. Since today the share of electricity generation at the country's nuclear power plants has reached 60%, in order to solve the problem of insufficiency of maneuvering capacities in the UES, it is advisable to use nuclear power plants, which will bring electricity consumption and generation into line. Therefore, the task of adapting the existing nuclear power units of Ukraine to maneuverable operating conditions by creating methods for automated control of changes in the power of power units is relevant.

This study represents the improved mathematical and imitational allocated in space multi-zone model of VVER-1000 which differs from the known one. It allows to take into account the energy release of 235U nuclei fission as well as 239Pu . Moreover, this model includes sub-models of simultaneous control impact of the boric acid concentration in the coolant of the first circuit and the position of 9th group control rods which allows to consider it as the model with allocated parameters and also allows to monitor changes in the mentioned technological parameters by reactor core symmetry sectors, by layers of reactor core height and by fuel assembly group each symmetry sector. Moreover, this model allows to calculate important process-dependent parameters of the reactor (including axial offset) as quantitative measure of its safety. As the mathematical and imitational models were improved, it allows to take into account intrinsic properties of the reactor core (including transient processes of xenon) and thus reduce the error of modelling static and dynamic properties of the reactor.The automated control method of power change of the NPP unit with VVER-1000 was proposed for the first time. It uses three control loops. One of which maintains the regulatory change of reactor power by regulating the concentration of boric acid in the coolant, the second circuit keeps the required value of axial offset by changing the position of control rods, and the third one holds constant the coolant temperature mode by regulating the position of the main turbo generator valves.On the basis of the above obtained method, two control programs were improved. The first one is the improved control program that implements the constant temperature of the coolant in the first circuit and the second one is the improved control program that implements the constant steam pressure in the second circuit.
