Analysis of the Impact of the “Sea Toll” Program for Seaports: Resilience and Competitiveness

Abstract: Maritime transportation is one of the most important global activities, especially for archipelagic countries. Inland components that exist within the seaport system, such as port authorities who manage passenger and cruise services even for container unloading and loading areas, have become an important aspect to improve performance and determine competitive strategies for seaports. The importance of this interdependence between ports with passenger services and container seaports led us to investigate the im… Show more

“…Chen et al (2018) determine “investment of players in a port–hinterland container transportation network to enhance network resilience according to man-made disasters.” McVeigh et al (2019) evaluate the r esilience concept from a psychological perspective to merchant seafarers and superintendents . Xu et al (2019) “quantify the resilience of handling chain system (HCS) in container ports.” Kusuma and Tseng (2019) investigate the impact of the special “sea toll” program on seaport resilience and competitiveness. Yuan et al (2020) evaluate “factors affecting operational resilience of container lines and determine their performance through a fuzzy cognitive map.” Hein and Schubert (2020) explain “the capacity of port cities to bounce back after disasters.” Rousset and Ducruet (2020) determine local exogenous shocks on seaports and maritime networks .…”

“…Loads in the intermediate area: In this region, there are cold ironing, charging stations, and container terminal facilities. The container terminal is an important part of international logistics and requires a large amount of energy, both fuel and electricity [19], for loading and unloading cargo as well as the transshipping goods to the next mode of transportation [20]. Container terminals serve three primary functions: yard side, quayside, and landside [21].…”
