This study aims to highlight the contribution made by different international institutions in the field of urban generation of renewable energy, as a key element to achieve sustainability. This has been possible through the use of the Scopus Elsevier database, and the application of bibliometric techniques through which the articles content published from 1977 to 2017 has been analysed. The results shown by Scopus (e.g., journal articles and conferences proceedings) have been taken into account for further analysis by using the following search pattern (TITLE-ABS-KEY ({Renewable energy} AND ({urban} OR ({cit*})). In order to carry out this study, key features of the publications have been taken into consideration, such as type of document, language, thematic area, type of publication, and keywords. As far as keywords are concerned, renewable energy, sustainability, sustainable development, urban areas, city, and energy efficiency, have been the most frequently used. The results found have been broken down both geographically and by institution, showing that China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and India are the main research countries and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Education China and Tsinghua University the major contributing institutes. With regard to the categories, Energy, Environmental Sciences, and Engineering are positioned as the most active categories. The scientific community agrees that the study of the renewable energy generation in cities is of vital importance to achieve more sustainable cities, and for the welfare of a growing urban population. Moreover, this is in line with the energy policies adopted by most of developed countries in order to mitigate climate change effects.

Corporate Sustainability (CS) literature has gone through a period of intense development. The moment is favorable to gathering these contributions to consistently advance the state of the art in CS and, also, discuss them to apply in real contexts. The main objective of the paper is to systematize, through a systematic literature review using content analysis of the 30 most cited articles from 2007 to 2017, the guiding pillars of CS management. The systematic search for papers was carried out in Scopus and Web of Science and the initial screening of the papers was assisted by the coding software MAXQDA 2018, through which the authors structured and analyzed their main insights, contributions and conclusions. After getting acquainted with the sample, an in-depth reading of the texts was conducted and 60 CS elements were identified. The elements cited in the relevant literature were grouped into 6 pillars related to Corporate sustainability strategy; Corporate governance; Human resources management; Knowledge and innovation management; Measurement, disclosure and independent assurance; and Management systems and Integrated management systems. The discussion of CS management pillars presented in this study provides understanding to researchers and managers on the main aspects that make up the integration of this construct in the companies, especially from a management point of view.

¿Incide la ISO 14000 en el desempeño exportador de las empresas colombianas?

Los sistemas de gestión ambiental, como los que certifica la Organización Internacional para la Estandarización - ISO 14000, buscan garantizar el buen manejo de los recursos en las empresas, de forma tal que se establezcan prácticas amigables con el ambiente. Son diversas las razones que pueden motivar a las empresas a desarrollar procesos de certificación, como poder cumplir con estándares internacionales y de esta manera acceder a mercados en el extranjero. Siendo Colombia uno de los países en los que más se ha incrementado la adopción de la certificación ISO 14000, vale la pena peguntar si este proceso les genera a las compañías un aumento en el volumen de sus exportaciones. Esta investigación se realiza en el marco de la teoría de la competitividad ambiental. El estudio es de corte transversal e identifica empresas certificadas y que además son exportadoras, midiendo su comportamiento frente a un grupo de compañías no certificadas mediante una prueba de hipótesis no paramétrica. Como resultado se encuentra que existe una diferencia significativa entre los volúmenes exportados por las empresas certificadas y los de las que no lo están, aunque no se puede afirmar que su éxito en ventas en el extranjero se deba a la ISO 14000.
