Analysis of the dynamics of coastal landform change based on the integration of remote sensing and gis techniques: Implications for tidal flooding impact in pekalongan, central java, Indonesia

Abstract: Coastal landforms are located in the interface zone between atmosphere, ocean and land surface systems formed by the geomorphic process of erosion, depositional, and subsidence. Studying the dynamics of coastal landform change is important for tracing the relationship between coastal landform changes and tidal flooding in the coastal areas of Pekalongan, Indonesia. The method of integrating remote sensing data with geographic information system (GIS) techniques has been widely used to monitor and analyze the d… Show more

“…Other examples of the geospatial mapping for analysis of the datasets is illustrated by automated vectorization of the isolines using AutoTrace [56], geostatistical approaches by ArcGIS [57][58][59][60][61][62][63]. Effective way of the data analysis is a combination of various methods, for instance, C++, Matlab, cartographic mapping by ArcGIS [64][65], CARIS HIPS and GMT [66], or AWK and Octave with GMT [67].…”

“…The beginning of the coastline evolution mapping is inextricably linked with the use of topographic maps (Gil et al, 2019;Hoque et al, 2019;Carolina et al, 2018;Kaliraj et al, 2017;Ayadi et al, 2016;Ganasri & Ramesh, 2016;Prasita, 2015;Kumaravel et al, 2013;John & Scott, 2010;Xuejie & Damen, 2010;Appeaning 2009;Aris et al, 2008;Peter & Kaminsky George, 2003;Charles et al, 2003). Moreover, toposheets were the most reliable data utilized as base maps for satellite images georeferencing (Yulianto et al, 2019;Fatima et al, 2018;Joevivek & Saravanan Sakthivel, 2018;Vandebroek et al, 2017;Bharathvaj 2015;Joevivek & Saravanan Sakthivel, 2013;Sharma & Acharya, 2010;Nageswara Rao et al, 2008;.…”

“…Coastal land forms occur in the dynamic zone at the interface between the three major natural systems of the Earth's surface: atmosphere, ocean and land surface [3]. These landforms are susceptible to change when it is attacked by waves, coastal currents, the wind, sediment transport and anthropogenic activities [13]. "Studies [10] pointed out that depositional landforms manifest as beach, sandbar, sand spit, tombolo, coastal dune, offshore bar while the coastal erosional landforms are cliff, caves, blowhole, geo, notch, stack, arch, stumps."…”
