Analysis of square and rectangular footings subjected to eccentric-inclined load resting on reinforced sand

Abstract: In the present paper, a method of analysis for calculating the pressure intensity corresponding to a given settlement for eccentrically and obliquely loaded square and rectangular footings resting on reinforced soil foundation has been presented. The process has been simplified by presenting non-dimensional charts for the various terms used in the analysis, which can be directly used by practicing engineers. An approximate method has been suggested to find out the ultimate bearing capacity of such footings on … Show more

“…The improvement of the bearing capacity of eccentrically loaded shallow foundations was the main objective of several investigations, especially when the reinforcing material is geotextile, e.g. Badakhshan and Noorzad [12], Patra et al [13], Sahu et al [14] and Saran et al [15].…”

“…This was occurred by removing the weak soil up to a certain depth and then exchanging the soil or fills the same soil back with the implying of horizontal sheets of geosynthetics at different depths under the footing. Therefore, with the advantages of using soil reinforcement both the type and the size of foundation may be changed causative an economic design [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9].…”
