“…Earlier studies suggesting that neosensitization occurs during SCIT 38,39 have not been confirmed by others. 40,41 Limitations of our study Only 24 subjects were studied; a bigger study might be needed to confirm our findings. Allergen challenge outcomes had been performed in 10-fold dilution steps.…”

“…The control groups thus showed a similar composition regarding age and were also similar regarding the gender balance as compared to the Uzbek groups (Figure ). Neither in the Uzbek nor in the Austrian young groups, subjects below 18 years were included because it has been shown that children up to the age of 12 years can acquire additional sensitizations whereas in adult patients IgE reactivity profiles remain constant . Permission of the local ethics committees was obtained, and written informed consent was obtained from the patients.…”

“…The development of IgE responses to allergen molecules, a process termed "allergic sensitization" seems to occur early in life whereas IgE-reactivity profiles of adult allergic patients do not change in a relevant manner [2,3]. This implies that there exists a period early in life during which allergic sensitization takes place and IgE-reactivity profiles are established.…”

“…The ImmunoCAP ISAC has been used in a large number of clinical studies for a number of years [7], in epidemiologic studies [8], longitudinal follow up of children [9] and to find de novo sensitizations [3]. It has many advantages and results are close but not identical to classical immunoassays [10] (WAO Position Paper, in press).…”
