Analysis of selected allergic reactions among psoriatic patients

Abstract: Introduction Psoriasis is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory skin disease. The aetiology is still unknown in spite of numerous scientific researches. There is very little evidence which does not provide enough knowledge about allergic reactions in psoriatic patients. Based on the fact that the epidermal barrier damage allows different allergen types to penetrate into deep layers of epidermis and skin, we can assume that it may lead to immunological reactions. Aim To i… Show more

“…2,22,25,63,74 In the latter patients, the atopy patch test may complement the routine diagnostic workup of a suspected allergy to aeroallergens by means of a skin prick test and/or IgE test. 16 Finally, positive aeroallergen patch tests are not limited to AD patients, 10,19 as the originally proposed name 'atopy patch test' suggests. 9 Based on our results, reflecting a reaction frequency > 2% in the patient subgroup without AD (Table 3), we propose a reduced aeroallergen patch test series for the clinical routine consisting of D. pteronyssinus, D. farinae, cat dander, mugwort, birch and timothy grass, all 200 IR/mL in pet.…”

“…The most recent comorbidities reported in children were allergic reactions such as asthma, with higher concentration of specific allergic immunoglobulin E antibodies, which was explained by the epidermal barrier damage in psoriasis that allows different allergen types to penetrate into deep layers of the epidermis and skin.…”

“…Patients with psoriasis have been shown to present weakly expressed hypersensitivity to some inhalant, food, and contact allergens, such as birch, artemisia, timothy grass and rye pollens, house dust mites, and molds [69]. The intensity of hypersensitivity reactions correlated with PASI [69]. Sensitization to allergens also plays an important role in the development, severity, and treatment of asthma.…”
