Analysis of Residual Stresses Distribution Based on the Finite Element Method for Beam-Column Connections of Steel Frames

Abstract: Beam-column connections of high-rise steel frames are usually welded, studies on seismic damages for nodes show that the existence of welding seam is the main reason which contributes to the brittle failure of nodes. This paper studies on the coming into being process of nodes, the deformation ability can be improved through changing welding order to reduce residual stresses for nodes.
