Analysis of Pyrimethanil, Metalaxyl, Dichlofluanid, and Penconazol in Must and Wine from Red Grapes by Solid-Phase Extraction and Gas Chromatography

Abstract: This article describes a method for the simultaneous analysis of four fungicides-pyrimethanil, penconazol, metalaxyl, and dichlofluanid-in must and wine by solid-phase extraction. Two cartridges (octadecylsilane and polystyrenedivinylbenzene) were evaluated with different elution solvents. The most efficient solid phase was octadecylsilane together with ethyl acetate as elution solvent. Determination was performed by gas chromatography with a nitrogen-phosphorus detector, using metribuzin as internal quantific… Show more

“…The LOD and LOQ were estimated as the concentrations obtained with the average noise value plus three and ten times the standard deviation (SD) respectively. For GC/MS the LOD and LOQ were determined as the analyte concentrations that gave signal‐to‐noise (S/N) ratios of 3 and 10 respectively …”

“…Hence, numerous techniques have been implemented to detect pyrimethanil, some of which are gas chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy and capillary electrophoresis. [6][7][8][9][10] Despite many advantages, all these approaches are associated with some disadvantages such as tedious sample preparation, high cost and limited real-time and on-site potency of determination. [11][12][13][14][15][16] Among these, great attention has been paid to the electrochemical sensors for the quantication of pesticide residues because of their unique features such as cost-effectiveness, rapidity and high sensitivity.…”

“…[2] Various analytical methods have been reported for the determination of metalaxyl in food. Vaquero-Fernández [3] carried out solid-phase extraction (SPE) to detect residues in wine with gas chromatography coupled with nitrogen phosphorus detector. Although the recovery was high (92.3-105.5%), SPE is time-consuming and costly.…”
