Analysis of Prospective Physics Teacher's Misconceptions on Interference Material using Certainty of Response Index (CRI)

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to find out the occurrence of misconceptions in students regarding the concept of light interference and to find out the causes of these misconceptions. The research was conducted in the form of a three-tier multiple-choice test and analyzed using the Certain of Response Index (CRI) method which will be a benchmark in the level of confidence in answering a question. The research was conducted on 21 undergraduate students of UNY Physics with light interference material. From this… Show more

“…Then, questions were equipped with the level of confidence of students with 6 levels. Confidence level scale answers from lowest to highest sequentially were: (1) all guessing, (2) some guessing, (3) not sure, (4) sure, (5) almost understand, and (6) understand (Kusumawati et al, 2022;Putri et al, 2021). The form of the e-diagnostic question that was developed considered that educators could imitate the material at the next meeting with a different material.…”

“…Certainty of Response Index Section (CRI) is a technique for measuring a person's misconceptions by determining the level of confidence or certainty in answering each question given (Kusumawati et al, 2022). The Certainty of Response Index method is very easy to use in uncovering misconceptions because there is a scale of the respondent's confidence level in answering the questions.…”
