Analysis of processes in the supply chain of ozone generator by sinusoidal and pulse voltage

Abstract: Based on an analysis of the processes in the supply circuit of ozone generators with periodic sinusoidal and pulsed voltages of high duty cycle, it is revealed that when powered by a sinusoidal voltage, a significant part of the energy consumed is spent on heat loss. Only in a small part of the sinusoidal voltage, namely in the zone of reaching the amplitude value, a barrier discharge occurs with the generation of ozone. Therefore, the efficiency ozone generators at sinusoidal voltage do not exceed 2%. When po… Show more

In this case, it is possible to increase the amplitude of the supply voltage Ui.a above the breakdown threshold of the sinusoidal voltage U br.s, which is characterized by the overvoltage factor [13,14,15]…”

“…In the discharge gas gaps, in which independent discharges occur, space charges (ions) are generated. These charges turn out to be sufficient to stop the current from growing at the same time that the voltage of the counter voltage half-wave increases [12][13][14][15]. It should be noted that self-sustained discharges are characterized by instability in the discharge current's amplitude; as a result, the time it takes for space charges to neutralize will vary.…”

“…Ozone is produced in equipment called ozonators or ozone generators and is created from pure oxygen supplied from a cylinder (6% ozone concentration) or treated air (1-3% ozone concentration) directly at the manufacturing plant. Such devices produce from few to over 100 mg/L (Muzafarov, Batirova, Babaev, & Kilichov, 2020;Nassour et al, 2018;Rodríguez-Peña et al, 2021). The most powerful ones are used, among others, by hospitals for disinfection of surgical instruments.…”
