Analysis of pressure field generated by a collapsing bubble

Abstract: This paper is concerned with the dynamic pressure induced by a collapsing bubble, based on the potential flow theory coupled with the boundary element method. The pressure is calculated using the Bernoulli equation, where the partial derivative of the potential in time is calculated using the auxiliary function method. The numerical results agree well with experimental results, in terms of bubble shape and pressure fields. There are two root causes of the bubble induced pressure and the dynamic pressure is dec… Show more

“…The pressure peak decreases with F r and multiple pressure peaks can be observed when F r ≤ 4. Generally, the first pressure peak relates to the violent jet impact and the subsequent pressure peak relates to the combination of the high-pressure gas and the decaying jet flow [54]. Therefore, for a large scale airgun-bubble, describing the bubble oscillation with the spherical bubble theory will neglect the significant jetting behavior during the collapse phase, which has a great effect on the pressure wave emissions.…”

“…e characteristics of the pressure loading due to the bubble collapse have drawn much attention. Li et al gave a detailed analysis of the pressure field on the target surface above which the bubble is formed through the boundary element method validated by the spark-generated bubble [13]. e induced bubble pressure is analyzed deeply by dividing the whole pressure into two parts, which are discussed separately.…”
