Analysis of National Grid of India on the PAN India lights-off event due to COVID-19

Abstract: The honorable Prime Minister of India appealed to the citizens on 3rd April 2020 to switch-off their lights and blow candles/lamps on 5th of April 2020 at 21:00 hours for 9 minutes. The reduction in load demand in India during this interval of 9 minutes was around 35-40 GW considering that only lights would be transitioned.
