Analysis of Multi-Scale Problem About Antenna Mounted on Electrically Large Platform by Using Connected Epa-Po

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a hybrid method combining equivalence principle algorithm with physical optics is proposed to solve the radiation problem of antenna mounted on electrically large platform. It is based on domain decomposition method which is a scheme for multiscale problems. Equivalence principle algorithm can simulate antenna accurately, and physical optics is an asymptotical method to obtain current distribution on the electrically large platform. Continuity of currents is considered when the conducto… Show more

“…The Schur complement EPA-PO hybrid restates the equations in a manner suggesting that another high-frequency asymptotic (approximate) method may be used in place of PO without loss of generality to the formulation. Others' preceding work has applied an EPA-PO hybrid to electrically connected objects [2] using a tap basis to characterize currents at the interface. Because the Schur complement does not impact the computed solution for the retained unknowns, it is anticipated that future work may readily add the same tap basis unknowns as a domain to enforce proper current flow between connected objects with the Schur complement EPA-PO hybrid.…”

“…High-frequency asymptotic methods [11]- [15] approximate scattering effects and may be used to express a scattering operator. Past work has used the PO approximation on the scatterer mesh [2] as an EPA domain. The PO current coefficients are not of interest; treating them as such creates unnecessary work for the solver.…”

“…The density of unknowns on the surfaces is smaller than that on the elements. Based on this idea, in the previous work by the present authors, EPA combining with PGF was proposed to decrease the number of times on PGF evaluation (Periodic Equivalence Principle Algorithm, PEPA) [5]. Compared to PMM, the times on PGF evaluation are much reduced.…”

“…When utilizing PEPA to simulate the radiation pattern of the large finite array, good accuracy can be kept only around the main lobe [5]. In order to increase the accuracy at other angles of the radiation pattern, meanwhile, keep the efficiency, PEPA-EPA is proposed.…”
