Analysis of Mechanical and Metallographic Properties on The Joining Between Aluminum and Brass by Using The Brazing Method

It is known that some welding results were defect in the Saudi Aramco project, particularly at the TKY joint and splice joint, thus there is a reparation needed with the specific type of defect which is lack of fusion. The method used is the Pareto diagram, control diagram and fish bone diagram -to find out the graphs and the causes of the resulting structural welding results. The results shown by the pareto diagram state that for an event, about 80% of the effect is caused by 20% of the cause, the type of damage that often occurs in the welding results caused by a lack of fusion is 50%, consisting 23 joints of the 46 joints produced. Meanwhile, from the control chart, all data of the structural welding have been placed at the control limit. Based on the fish bone diagram, some of the causes the lack of fusion defect are because several factors such as human, machine and method, material and environmental factors.

The Effect of Annealing Process and Mold Variations to Failure Time of CuznCast Alloy by Dynamic Load

The main objective of this study is to determine the influence of mold casting variations and annealing process of CuZn cast alloy. The CuZn cast alloy was annealed at 400 C to 2 hours. Failure time measurement was conducted by using Torsee's Torsion Repeated and Bending Fatigue Machine with only one level of loading 3º. Microstructure analysis performed by using Optical microscope to analyze its correlation with hardness value of CuZn cast alloy. Fracture Phenomenon of fracture fatigue specimen was analyses by using SEM.The reduction in fatigue toughness accompanied by the increase in ductility in CuZn cast alloy after annealing treatment.The decrease in mechanical properties also shown by the reduction of hardness value confirmed by changes size of its dendrite arm spacing.The results of the investigation revealed. The results showed a significant influence of the annealing process and mold variations on the failure time and mechanical properties of CuZn cast alloy.

Study of the Reclamation of Waste CO2 Moulding Sand in Foundry Industry

The study of the reclamation of waste CO 2 moulding sands aims to exercise further studies on treatment of CO 2 waste moulding sands and to ensure the final chemical composition of the CO 2 waste moulding sands. The research gives information about the potential of waste sand reclamations. In addition, this research aims to develop SOPs or signs in treatment waste sand.Reclamation process was begun in the crushing of sand lump by hammer and mixing machine reached granular size. The filtered process was done to separate the sand grains from the large size. Then, the washing process of the waste CO 2 moulding sand using detergent solution with variation concentrations of detergent 0.2; 0.3; and 0.4%, respectively. A newand waste silica sand were characterized to study physical and chemical properties. The characterization including grain shape, clay content, and grain fineness number (GFN). The morphology and element content in sands were observed under SEM-EDS instrument.The research shows that the optimum reclamation method is using 0.3% detergent. It results angular grain shape, clay content 2.58%, and GFN 42.16. The morphology and elemental scanning of using 0.3% detergent shows decrement 10.97% of sodium.Based on study was concluded that the detergent wash method is effective to improve the properties of the waste silica sand nearer to new silica sands. The CO 2 moulding sand reclamation can be reused again. In addition, the method of this research can be used in reference of the reclamation of waste CO 2 moulding sand.
