Technological advancement in the manufacturing system in current scenario is inevitable due to today's customer-driven and volatile nature of the market. Implementation of agent technology in a manufacturing system increases flexibility which handles uncertainty generated due to advance technology. Therefore, in this paper, the critical drivers affecting implementation of agent technology are identified and the relationships among them are analysed for a case study of a manufacturing system in an Indian steering wheel manufacturing company. Interpretive structural modelling (ISM) is used to provide binary relationships among identified critical drivers (CDs), while MICMAC approach describes sensitive analysis of driving and dependence behaviour of CDs. The classification of the drivers affecting agent technology and their relationships according to ISM-MICMAC approach provides importance to this study. A structural model is developed for providing rank to the identified critical drivers, and driving-dependent power diagram is presented for analysing the behaviour of different critical drivers with respect to others. The identification of the most influential CDs that lead to increase the effect of other drivers is the major finding of this study. Finally, the implication of this research for the industries is also described.

Just in time (JIT) manufacturing is a main manufacturing strategy used to enhance manufacturers' competitiveness through inventory and lead time reduction. Implementing JIT manufacturing has a number of challenges, e.g. effective frequent and real-time information sharing and communication between different functional departments, responsive action for adjusting the production plan against the continually changing manufacturing situation. Internet of Things (IoT) technology has the potential to be used for capturing desired data and information from production environment in real time, and the collected data and information can be used for adjusting production schedules corresponding to the changing production environment. This paper presents an IoT based framework to support responsive production planning and scheduling in JIT manufacturing. The challenges of implementing JIT manufacturing are identified first, and then an IoT based solution is proposed to address these challenges. A framework to realise the proposed IoT solution is developed and its implementation plan is suggested based on a case study on automotive harness parts manufacturing. This research contributes knowledge to the field of JIT manufacturing by incorporating the IoT technology to improve the connectivity of production chains and responsive production scheduling capability.

Indonesia as an archipelagic country has potential problems that pose a threat. This can be inferred because of the security lack and the sovereignty in the sea border area. The aim of the paper is to formulate a development strategy of posture capabilities of the Indonesian Navy to encounter security threats in the national territorial waters. In this research using the integration of SWOT analysis method and Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) in formulating strategies of Indonesian Navy posture capability development. The result of this paper Based on SWOT analysis, the total strategy that has been formulated is 10 (ten) sub strategies which determine the development of the Navy posture abilities. Based on ISM Method, it is evident that Increase of state budget percentage for the maritime sector in the development of Navy capability and other stakeholders as (ST)1 is a significant driver for the development of the strategy. Utilization of the abundant labor force in recruitment of Navy Personnel as (SO)2 is at level II; Build a strong foundation and infrastructure of information systems in the maritime territory to cope the cyber threats as (ST)3 and Cooperation with developed countries with technology transfer for military infrastructure development as (WT)2 are at level III; Negotiations with neighboring countries in trans-state sea border agreements as (ST)2 is at level IV; Establish an integrated task force with fellow stakeholders in maritime security as (WO)1 and Establish a task force to eradicate corruption and illegal levies on marine sector as (WO)2 are at level V; Utilization of marine resources to support renewable energy at sea, and open employment for the community as (SO)1 is at level VI. Equitable development of maritime infrastructure and connectivity in coastal and border areas as (WT)1 and The use of the country's active-free politics as a mediator for China and US hegemony in Asia Pacific as (SO)3 are at the top of the hierarchy models of structural modeling based on interpretation. The key strategy is an increase of state budget percentage for the maritime sector in the development of Navy ability.
