“…The low frequency of anti‐Ro and anti‐La antibodies in pSS patients (24.5% and 13.2%, respectively) have been previously reported by our group and by others . It is possible that the low frequency of anti‐Ro/anti‐La antibodies could be a hallmark of some pSS patient as has been demonstrated in the Mexican population and in the French cohort . This finding confirms the relevance of the histopathology in the classification criteria for pSS, especially in patients with low frequency of anti‐Ro antibodies (in our patients 98.2% and 24.5%, respectively).…”

“…In addition, the presence of CD28 and CTLA4 polymorphisms and their haplotypes, did not show the difference in clinical characteristics of pSS patients. “…We did not observe differences between alleles and haplotypes in terms of the mRNA expression and serum concentration of IL-10. Similar results were observed by Vázquez-Villamar, who found that in primary Sjögren's syndrome, patients showed high serum IL-10 levels and mRNA expression; however, no difference was observed between haplotypes [36]. It was suggested that IL-10 expression is controlled on the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels.…”

“…IL10 gene polymorphisms (‐1082A>G, ‐819C>T, and ‐592C>A) have also been evaluated as risk markers to other inflammatory diseases in population from Western Mexico but similar to our results, they have not found a statistically significant association between these markers and disease susceptibility; however, ATC haplotype was associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) susceptibility, which is strongly associated with nephropathy . In the present study, we observed that ATC haplotype (‐1082A/‐819T/‐592C) presence, increase 3.6 fold times the risk to DN development [ P = 0.0007; OR = 3.686, 95% CI (1.691‐8.035)], similar to SLE patients.…”
