In this article we analyze a recently proposed model for boundary layer flow of a nanofluid past a permeable stretching/shrinking sheet. The boundary value problem (BVP) resulting from this model is governed by two physical parameters; λ, which controls the stretching (λ > 0) or shrinking (λ < 0) of the sheet, and S, which controls the suction (S > 0) or injection (S < 0) of fluid through the sheet. For λ ≥ 0 and S ∈ R, we present a closedform solution to the BVP and prove that this solution is unique. For λ < 0 and S < 2 √ −λ we prove no solution exists. For λ < 0 and S = 2 √ −λ we present a closed-form solution to the BVP and prove that it is unique. For λ < 0 and S > 2 √ −λ we present two closed-form solutions to the BVP and prove the existence of an infinite number of solutions in this parameter range. The analytical results proved here differ from the numerical results reported in the literature. We discuss the mathematical aspects of the problem that lead to the difficulty in obtaining accurate numerical approximations to the solutions.

The study of squeezing flow has attracted considerable interest in recent years for its important applications in industrial, biomedical and engineering domains such as fibre‐reinforced, cell squeeze technology. The aim of this study is to analyze the flow and heat transfer of a squeezed particle fluid with thermal radiation effects between parallel plates. The governing partial differentials are reduced to ordinary differential equations by a similarity transformation and solved numerically using the finite difference method. The effects of different physical parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles are discussed with the help of graphs coupled with comprehensive discussions. The results indicate that the thermal radiation parameter enhanced the fluid and particle temperature distribution and for the plate oscillation case, reverse flow is observed. To show the biological relevance of the analysis, the results obtained analyzed the influence of the squeezed artery wall on the suspension blood flow for normal and diseased blood using the experimental data from the published literature. Finally, a comparison between the present similarity solutions and previously published results shows the accuracy of the current results.

Statistical approach on 3D hydromagnetic flow of water‐based nanofluid between two vertical porous plates moving in opposite directions

The nanofluid flow between two plates is a common topic of research. However, studies dealing with the flow between two vertical plates moving in different directions have not been largely accounted for. The main aim of this study is to analytically and statistically investigate the MHD flow of water‐based nanofluid between two vertical porous plates moving in opposite directions using perturbation technique and multiple linear regression, respectively. The consequence of various parameters on concentration, temperature, and velocity are examined via graphs using MATLAB software. It is observed that the main flow velocity profile is greater when the magnetic field is applied on the upward moving plate as compared to the main flow velocity when the magnetic field is applied on the downward‐moving plate. The physical quantities are scrutinized using statistical tools like probable error and multiple linear regression and an excellent agreement is noted. It is noted that the Nusselt number is highly positively correlated with the injection parameter and highly negatively correlated with nanoparticle volume fraction. Furthermore, the simultaneous effects of parameters on drag coefficients are studied with the aid of three‐dimensional surface plots.
