Analysis of Gas Admixing Foam Spray–Drying Process

Abstract: Extensive experiments and critical literature analysis on the foam spray-drying process to estimate the effects of feed foaming on drying kinetics and spray hydrodynamics are presented in the article. The foam spray-drying experiments were carried out in a cocurrent tower equipped with a Sizing Master Shadow (LaVision, Gottingen, Germany) system used to determine particle size distribution, velocity, and shape of particles in the cross section of spray. Local and average drying agent temperature and humidity a… Show more

“…There are a number of techniques that affect the porosity of spray-dried particles, such as foaming [20]. Current inorganic template particles consist of one or more core materials with an additional template material, which have been removed after drying, mainly by heating the powders to temperatures above 200 ºC.…”

“…Two models of foam drying were developed in the frame of the work: single droplet drying (SDD) model to check correctness of applied correlations and perfect phase mixing foam spray drying model to simulate drying process. All calculations were performed in Matlab and validated on a base of data obtained from the foam spray drying experiments performed at Lodz University of Technology [2].…”
