Analysis of Fleet Management and Infrastructure Constraints in On-Demand Urban Air Mobility Operations

Abstract: A significant challenge in estimating operational feasibility of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) missions lies in understanding how choices in design impact the performance of a complex system-of-systems. This work examines the ability of the UAM ecosystem and the operations within it to meet a variety of demand profiles that may emerge in the coming years. We perform a set of simulation driven feasibility and scalability analyses based on UAM operational models with the goal of estimating capacity and throughput for… Show more

“…In general, the TRR technology is applied in relatively niche areas, mainly in the construction work, and it cannot operate on a larger scale. At the same time, it is not very effective in coping with the geographical environment [11,12]. e teaching reproduction robot can make up for the insufficiency of processing in this relatively small aspect, and TRR plays a significant role in the GIS refinement of the construction model details.…”

“…It may be necessary to build vertically or create seamlessly multiplexed FATOs and TOLAs in small spaces. With the expectation that UAM would use VTOL instead of STOL aircraft, parcel areas of A 2 acres are feasible if vertiports are designed efficiently ( 43 , 44 ).…”

“…Firstly, the ideal time of arrival is computed as the required time of departure plus the ideal flight time, which is calculated as the length of the shortest route connecting the origin to the destination without considering traffic and turns, divided by the cruising speed of the aircraft. A similar metric is employed in [38]. Then, the computed demand delays are averaged to calculate the average demand delay for each scenario.…”
