Analysis of Factors on Flue Gas Assisted SAGD Based on a 2D Visualization Physical Model

Abstract: In this work, 2D visualization SAGD experiments were conducted, where a steam chamber can be observed and temperature profiles can be measured simultaneously, to analyze systematically the effect of injection factors of flue gas on SAGD performance. The experimental results show that the essential factor that affects the effect of flue gas is the size of the steam chamber and its upper space. The size of the steam chamber determines the timing of flue gas injection, and the size of the upper space of the steam… Show more

“…These included steam and gas push (SAGP), 7,14 combustion-assisted gravity drainage (CAGD), 15 multithermal fluid-assisted gravity drainage (MFAGD), 16 expanding solvent SAGD (ES-SAGD), 3,17,18 solvent-aided SAGD, 19−22 flue gas-assisted SAGD, etc. 23 Regarding the influence of these geological factors, the initial gas saturation and reservoir heterogeneity were discussed.…”

“…For example, several secondary solvent technologies were verified as enhancements to conventional SAGD. These included steam and gas push (SAGP), , combustion-assisted gravity drainage (CAGD), multithermal fluid-assisted gravity drainage (MFAGD), expanding solvent SAGD (ES-SAGD), ,, solvent-aided SAGD, flue gas-assisted SAGD, etc …”
