Summary This study aims to assess global investment alternatives with respect to renewable energy. Within this framework, five different renewable energy types (biomass, hydropower, geothermal, wind, and solar) are determined as investment alternatives. Moreover, eight different criteria are selected by considering the four different dimensions of balanced scorecard. Additionally, the fuzzy‐based decision making trial and the evaluation laboratory under the hesitancy (HF‐DEMATEL) model are taken into the account to weight these dimensions and criteria and the technique for order the preferences by the similarity to the ideal solution with the fuzzy hesitant methodology (HF‐TOPSIS) is considered to select the alternatives of renewable energy investments. The novelties of this study are to propose an integrated model and provide the balanced scorecard–based evaluations of global renewable energy investment alternatives. The findings show that learning and growth and customer are the most important dimensions for the investment on renewable energy. It is also identified that market potential, product customization, and technological development are the most significant criteria for this situation. On the other side, solar and wind energy are the most important renewable investment alternatives. These results explain that technological improvement should be maintained, and customer expectations should be met by the companies. Furthermore, solar power plant and wind power plant should be developed in the countries. For this purpose, governments should give necessary incentives to the investors, such as allocating appropriate lands. These actions can attract the attentions of the potential investors for these renewable energy alternatives. Owing to this issue, it can be possible to increase the capacity of electricity productions in the countries with a potential minimum cost.

Risk management is critical to the success of electric vehicle charging infrastructure public-private partnership (EVCI-PPP) projects, as risks are present throughout the whole life cycle of projects. However, in EVCI-PPP projects, risk factors are often interdependent and, consequently, the interrelationships among factors affect the risk management, which is ignored in the existing studies. To identify the risk factors of EVCI-PPP projects and analyze their internal influence relations, this paper develops a risk identification and analysis model of EVCI-PPP projects based on the 2-tuple linguistic representation model and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) model. First, a risk factor set is established including 22 criteria involved in 5 dimensions of political/legal risk, economic/market risk, social/environment risk, project/technical risk, and managing risk. Next, the 2-tuple model is introduced to integrate the decision makers' evaluation information in a linguistic environment, and the direct relation matrix is calculated. Then, the cause-effect relations and a significant degree of risk factors are interpreted using the extended DEMATEL technique. The results show that economic/market risk is the most significant factor of EVCI-PPP projects, and 22 criteria are classified into 14 cause factors and 8 effect factors. Finally, suggestions are provided for decision-makers to ensure the success of EVCI-PPP projects.

The continuous growth of the sharing economy has the potential to transform the competition in the accommodation sector. At present, research on accommodation sharing is scarce. This paper identifies drivers and barriers to accommodation sharing in Dubai. Taking into account different viewpoints of accommodation sharing professionals in Dubai and the grey-based Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method, this study singles out the essential drivers and barriers and examines the cause and effect connections between them. The process starts with a review of the existing accommodation sharing literature and the feedback from the industry experts to identify the drivers and barriers. Then, the elaboration of the questionnaire, data collection from five experts, data analysis with grey-based DEMATEL, and the sensitivity analysis follow. The lower costs, higher value, ease of use, wealth of available information, and contributions to the development of the local economy and residents are the most influential drivers of accommodation sharing in Dubai. The difficulties related to learning and using new technology along with insufficient or underdeveloped accommodation sharing legislation are the most critical barriers. The paper ends with implications for the stakeholders, limitations, and future directions for research on accommodation sharing.
