Analysis of cylindrical roller bearings design in order to optimize the classical process using FEM

Abstract: Abstract. This paper presents the structural and functional improvement of cylindrical roller bearings using finite element method. This method has a widely application and enjoys by an extended use in structural areas thermal analysis, mechanical and vibration. The advantages of the finite element method (FEM-Finite Element Method) are numerous and important. In case of conception a design it can be studied and modelled the structure behaviour in various media load in real time, therefore, based on the obtain… Show more

“…Furthermore, the least stress was developed on the cage due to its minimal interference in the whole process as compared to the other components. A similar result was reported by Pușcașu et al (2017), where the maximum Hertzian stress in the bearing assembly was developed on the outer ring.…”

“…At the same time, the cited work does not provide criteria for the possibility of using a two-dimensional model. Article [10] reports the analysis of a cylindrical roller bearing and suggests simplifying the geom-etry of the model to speed up the calculation. The authors established the distribution of contact pressures and projected lifespans for rings and rollers.…”

“…However, the cited article uses a very rough grid, which calls the results into question. The ideas, proposed in papers [8][9][10], to simplify the model at the cost of reducing the accuracy of calculation look doubtful.…”

“…Bearings are an essential component of all rotating machines and they function as a support to machines, and about 90 per cent of their failure during operation is catastrophic [1]. The radial bearings are often considered one of the most crucial components of rotating machinery in industrial applications.…”

“…In practice, different types of bearings are in use, and they include thrust bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, spherical roller bearings, and tapered roller bearings [4]. Several designs and technologies have been adopted in the aspect of heat treatment of bearing materials, machining, bearing components contacts, and the use of different simulation software in a bid to improve the knowledge of preventing the failure of bearings [1].…”
