“…Some analytical methods have been developed for analysis of Curcuma species. Most of the methods use chromatography-based methods such as high performance-thin layer chromatography (TLC) [11], high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) [12], gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for analysis volatile compounds in Curcuma species [13], and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) [14]. Chromatographic-based methods typically involved complex sample preparation technique and resulted huge number of responses which make difficulty in data analysis.…”

“…Nevertheless, although comparison is tenuous, based on the chromatograms, the volatile profile types identified seem to be analogous to essential oil types in our work. Importantly, volatile profile types "a" and "b" correspond to highcurcuminoid type "B" [26]. Therefore, we conclude that high turmerone concentrations are desirable qualities in turmeric essential oil.…”

“…Xu and coworkers examined the extracts of 160 samples of C. longa from China [26]. Gas chromatographic analysis of the volatiles from the extracts revealed three volatile profile types, while high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) analysis showed three types based on curcuminoid content.…”

“…The volatiles of turmeric are generally detected using methods such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry (UV), gas chromatography (GC), and mass spectrometry (MS) [7][8][9][10][11]. However, the pretreatment methods for these traditional analysis methods are complex, including Molecules 2021, 26, 5797 2 of 12 steam distillation, solvent extraction, and separation.…”
