Analysis of Contact Angle for Metallic Materials in Wastewater Pumps

Abstract: Immersed wastewater pumps work in aggressive corrosive environments and physicochemical phenomena of corrosion and erosion take place at the liquid-solid interface. Due to the type of interaction between the two media when the basic metallic material is hydrophobic, corrosion phenomena can occur with the erosion due to the movement of the solid particles in the liquid. If the liquid is exposed to the hydrophilic base material, the corrosion phenomena occur in a laminar layer, having partial protection role. In… Show more

“…In addition, research on modifications of liquids has primarily focused on ionic species and concentrations, studies on gas modifications remain relatively scarce [ 80 ]. However, it is worth noting that unlike liquids and gases, solid materials are more susceptible to wear issues during friction and are prone to corrosion [ 81 , 82 ]. Conversely, liquid–liquid and gas–liquid interfaces offer distinct advantages in terms of longevity and wear resistance.…”

“…The wastewater used in the measurements was filtered with filter paper in order not to create problems in the measuring device (goniometer), there is a danger of clogging the drop release hole. Since the presence of particles in suspension has relatively little effect on the hydrophilic or hydrophobic nature of metallic materials, this does not significantly affect the results [22].…”

“…synthetic cooling media for quenching are very diverse and sometimes contain by-products or wastes resulting from different industries [15]. Carboxymethyl cellulose is a cellulose gum derivative with carboxymethyl groups (-Ch2-Cooh) that results as a by-product of papermaking [16,17]. in an aqueous solution between 1.5-3.5 wt.% with additives, it can be used as a cooling medium.…”
