Analysis of Composite Bonded/Bolted Joints Used in Repairing

Abstract: The performance of composite repairing using single lapped joints is sensitive to factors such as ply stacking sequence of laminate, bonding surface preparation, anisotropic nature of adherend, as well as bearing and load transfer from one adherend to the other. This research is focused to investigate the stress distributions in laminated composite joints with multiple pin loads using finite element analysis. The structural response of various configurations of single lap joints, namely bonded, bolted and bon… Show more

“…Under room temperature and ambient humidity conditions, 98% of the applied load was predicted to be transferred by the adhesive. Chan and Vedhagiri (2001) investigated that the use of bolted, bonded and combined bonded-bolted joints used in repair. The structural response of various configurations of single lap joint, namely, bonded, bolted and bonded-bolted joints, was analyzed by three-dimensional finite element method.…”

“…The hybrid rivet bonding technique seems to be a solution since it usually satisfies all the requirements in terms of strength, cost and weight. In this industrial field, hybrid joining in general, but especially rivet bonding is used also for patch repairs [4].…”

“…Chan ve Vedhagiri [3] yapıştırıcı ve cıvata ile birleştirilmiş kompozit plakalardaki gerilmeleri incelemişlerdir. Sonlu elemanlar analizi sonuçları ile deneysel sonuçlar karşılaştırılmış, sonuçların birbiri arasında uyumlu olduğu gözlenmiştir.…”
