Analysis of Clinical and Laboratory Findings of Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Abstract: Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) is an emergency disease requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment. the incidence of iSSnHL in the Western countries' population was estimated to 5-20 per 100,000 inhabitants. The etiology of ISSNHL remains unknown. Its pathogenesis is most often suggested to be due to a disturbed microcirculation and infection. previous studies have reported that comorbidities, including hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), and hyperfibrinogenemia are risk factors of ISS… Show more

“…Although many patients with SSHL recover spontaneously (32–65%), the condition’s underlying causes and pathogenesis remain unclear [ 10 ]. Moreover, the onset of SSHL is generally in the fifth or sixth decade of life, which is earlier than that of patients with ARHL [ 12 ].…”

“…It is an urgent neurotology disorder requiring immediate identification and treatment [ 11 ]. SSHL occurs at any age but usually affects people in their 40s and 50s [ 12 ], with an annual incidence of 5–20 per 100,000 people per year in developed countries and with an equal sex distribution [ 13 ]. It can occur in isolation or as part of a systemic disorder.…”

“…The overall incidence of diagnosed ISSNHL ranges from 5 to 20/100,000 persons per year. The true incidence of ISSNHL is, without doubt, higher than reported, because the spontaneous recovery rate ranges from 32 to 65% [Xie et al, 2020]. Recovery most often occurs within 2 weeks after the onset of symp-with various factors, such as a delay from onset to treatment, the type of hearing loss, and the presence of vertigo [Slattery et al, 2005].…”
