Analysis of Climate-Related Risks for Chile’s Coastal Settlements in the ARClim Web Platform

Abstract: The web-based tool ARClim provides an atlas of climate change-related risk assessments spanning over 50 environmental and productive sectors in Chile. This paper illustrates the implementation of ARClim on two coastal sectors, operational downtime in fishing coves and flooding in coastal settlements, aiming to provide a tool to visualize comparative estimates of risk, which may enable decision makers and stakeholders to prioritize adaptation measures. The risk is calculated as a function of the hazard, exposur… Show more

“…Time series of wave spectra and statistical parameters (H s , T m , θ m ) were then computed every 3 h, from which, temporal medians for 20 years of statistical parameters were computed for each GCM and then assembled. Figure S1 summarized this process, proposed by Winckler et al [48].…”

“…Currently, in Chile, there is a significant deficit in advances in stormwater management, resulting in flooding within urban areas due to the waterproofing of soils [32]. Changing the relationship between the use of urban and rural areas leads to changes in residents' quality of life, the environment, and ecosystem services, including water resources [33].…”
