This study focuses on the characterization of pigment compounds presence in Sargassum sp. extracts. The ground powder of dry Sargassum sp. was macerated in in methanol solution at 60°C for 48 hours in an aluminium foil-wrapped conical flask (to provide the dark environment). The extracted colourant was measured with UV-vis Spectrophotometer and Q-TOF LCMS to determine the compounds presence. The extracted colourant also used to dye pretreated and untreated polyester fabric with poly(amidoamine) dendrimer at different concentrations with and without mordants. The exhaustion dyeing with the simultaneous mordanting procedure was carried at 85°C for 60 minutes. The colorimetric properties of the dyed fabrics were then analysed. The results showed that the pigment compounds presence in Sargassum sp. extracts is fucoxanthin and chlorophyll. The application of dendrimer improved K/S values of the dyed fabric. Thus, Sargassum sp. extract is suitable to be used as natural dyes for textile dyeing.

Although many studies measure the abundance of benthic microalgae (BMA), at the meters squared scale, comparing these studies is difficult due to the variety of sampling, extraction, and analysis techniques. This difficulty is exacerbated by the fact that BMA abundance has high spatial and temporal variability, at all spatial scales. A suitable standard sampling regimen would reduce variation in estimates due to different sample collection and processing greatly facilitating comparisons between studies. This study examined the effect of varying the volume of extraction solvent, sampling core diameter, and sample replication on BMA biomass estimates. Key findings, applicable to all spatial scales, to accurately determine biomass were the use of a minimum sediment to extraction solvent ratio of 1:2 and use of a sampling core diameter of 19 mm. Across a wide range of sediment types, at the meters squared scale and using spectrophotometric techniques, a minimum replication number of 8 was found to be appropriate. We report the significant effect coring depth and units of expression have on BMA biomass estimates across a range of sediment types, highlighting the potential pitfalls when comparing studies.

Multivariate data needed to make rigorous probability statements about the effect of factors and their interaction in experiments. Multivariate statistical methods provide a useful test for analysis of rigorous data sets, becausemany variables integrated in one analysis. Chlorophyll "a" and "b" are indeed essential for the growth and development of sugarcane stalk. This paper presents multivariate analysis of variance of the chlorophyll content of the randomly selected varieties of sugarcane leaves. The data set obtained from a study conducted at National Cereal Research Institute (NCRI,) Badeggi in Niger State, Nigeria. The results show that there are statistical significant differences in both the seasons and the varieties of the sugarcane leaves in the chlorophyll contents.
