Analysis of Chemical Composition of Extractives by Acetone and the Chromatic Aberration of Teak (Tectona Grandis L.F.) from China

Abstract: In order to clarify the chemical color change of teak (Tectona grandis L.F.), the difference of chemical composition between the heartwood and sapwood of teak was investigated by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) based on the acetone extractive compounds. The results showed that the difference in content of the main components between heartwood and sapwood was not obvious. However, the amount of extractives in heartwood was higher than that in sapwood, especially for phenols, quinones, and ketones. … Show more

“…In regards to teak wood, the antimicrobial effect of extracts is well known (Lacret et al 2012, Niamke et al 2012, Aboaba et al 2014, Kopa et al 2014, Paes et al 2015, Brocco et al 2017. Another study very close to the present one (Qiu et al 2019) shows that extracts of teak wood in acetone contains 49 compounds with in-secto-fungic activity, of which the most representative are: 4-tert-butil-2-fenil-fenol, 2-metilantraquinone, and 2,3-dimetil-1,4,4a, 9a-tetrahidro-9,10-antracenedione.…”

“…The chemical composition of the freijó wood was in accordance with tropical hardwoods (Gérard et al 2019;Qiu et al 2019). Similar content levels were observed in 25-30-year old freijó wood from natural forests, except for higher levels of holocellulose (78%) and extractives (7%) (Scatolino et al 2017).…”

“…[15][16][17][18][19][20],especially as a complement to X-ray structural analysis in understanding the crystal chemistry of uranyl minerals. A lot of researches have reported uranyl minerals identification results by IR spectra [21][22][23]. The Infrared spectrum of tengchongite with in 640cm -1 to 4000cm -1 is shown in Figure 4 in reflection model.…”
